We’re back with another visitor snapshot – this time around it’s specifically for Geelong and The Bellarine.
Following a bit of number crunching, here’s how things are looking:
- Total domestic visitation and nights were up 12% and 17% respectively from last year BUT spend is up a whopping 51%. So, we got exactly the right people back to our region who had lumps of cash, and likely government subsidies, to spend.
- We are still a tracking behind our strong pre-COVID 2019 figures – down 38% on visitors, 17% on nights and 8% on spend.
- Domestic overnight visitors to our region were up 76% on the previous quarter.
- Our market share of overnight visitors in Victoria has grown to over 8% – so we’re grabbing a bigger piece of the pie which is fantastic.
However, we are also tracking behind our closest regional competitors and behind the Victorian recovery level.
So there is still a big road ahead for our region to be back to our powerhouse levels of 2019. All the latest stats are telling us we’re on that path.
See how these results compare nationally, state-wide and to regional Victoria as a whole.
