Portarlington is one of seven finalists up for the 2025 Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards (category: small tourism town), and as a result, we’ve received lots of local media support.
“Of course, this accolade isn’t news to us, and we are well aware of the many attractive places to explore, and we are well aware of the many attractions that our tranquil but vibrant coastal town has to offer,” Cr Trent Sullivan penned in a column for The Bellarine Times.
“This nomination reinforces Portarlington’s position as one of the region’s most attractive places to explore, and more tourists are clearly getting the memo,” he said.
About 677,000 visitors flocked to Portarlington last year; that’s 36 per cent more than in 2023.
In a news article published by The Geelong Indy, the public was encouraged to vote to help earn Portarlington the title it deserves.
“When you cast a vote for Portarlington, you’re casting a vote for the barista who makes your morning coffee, the retail staff who greet every customer with a smile, the tour guides who bring to life the story of our proud little town, and everyone else who contributes to making it the friendly, welcoming place that it is,” commented Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine Executive Director Tracy Carter.
